Arrange for pets to be looked after
Cats and dogs do get under our feet when we are moving, so please arrange for them to be looked after or put away for their and our safety.
Arrange for young children to be looked after
Arrange someone to look after your young children on the move day, this is for health and safety.
Don’t water large plants
Please don’t water your large pot plants before your move as it makes them very heavy and may leak during transportation.
Drain petrol from mowers
Petrol lawn mowers and strimmers must be completely empty of petrol and aired of all fumes.
Empty the loft
Bring down things from the loft (unless otherwise agreed).
Defrost fridges
The day before your move defrost the fridge and freezer.
Keep important belongings to one side
Ensure that anything needed for the moving day such as, money, keys, mobile phone, ID and important documents are put aside in one place and are pointed out to the removals team when they arrive.
Ensure sufficient parking
Arrange sufficient parking by parking two or more cars where the removal van will have to go, or by placing a few notices out the night before.
Ensure keys to the new home are ready
Make all the necessary arrangements so the keys are made available as soon as possible to your new home.
Ensure someone is at the new house
At the delivery address please ensure that someone is on hand to direct the removal men to place the furniture in the correct rooms.
